#004: Oh no.. where do I start?

Overwhelmed again.

A beautiful garden starts with the pulling of a single weed.

While this is the season of growth, it’s also the season of doing. Especially for those of us in the north, abiding by seasons as law.

The last of the snow has melted, flooded our land, and receded deep into the dirt below. The sun peaked through the overcast skies of winter and the birds have returned, awaking us with springtime melodies.

It’s time for us to go back outside. To grab the shovels & trimming shears, to repair the fence that was left tilted by frozen ground, to pull the weeds that have already found great comfort in our unseeded gardens.

So much to do. So little time.

Where do we start?

Some things are a matter of perspective. Overwhelm, in my opinion, is a matter of focus.

We’re looking for the biggest net so that we can catch every fish in the lake. It’s an impossible job to be done.

Our focus is too wide.

One fish at a time. With one hook. On one line. That’s how we’ll catch a lake’s-worth of fish.

One weed. One task. One piece of wood, cut, split, and stacked in the firewood pile to keep us warm at night.
