#002: Things are alright.

While not true for elves, it’s natural for us human-folk to want more. We want a bigger home, better food in the pantry, more land to roam or a bigger city to explore, more trinkets and decor from the street markets, nicer clothes to show about in the village square… the list goes on.

This thought came about yesterday as the smell of Elderleaf tea filled the house and I watched our kids run into the yard. They ran through the orchard bursting with orange and yellow leaves, around the honeyberry bushes, and back towards the house to check on the chickens. My wife pulled pumpkin biscuits from the oven and lathered on some butter that glistened in the morning sun, filling the kitchen with the smell of fresh bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Life is good.

I often find myself wanting more. And some days, like yesterday, I’m reminded that I already have everything I need.
